Ghent

Throughout history Ghent is known as a city of rebels, people who didn’t accept blindly what their regulator imposed. The history of Ghent is characterized by a whole range of revolts and the counts of Flanders had to modify several of their regulations on different occasions to give in to the demands of the citizens.

Holding this conference in Ghent doesn’t mean we want to start a rebellion against existing rules but at least we want to question the traditional way of making regulation and applying its instruments.

Het Pand

Het Pand” is a former monastery of the Dominican order. The original mission of the Dominicans was to fight the Cathars, not with weapons but with reasonable arguments (contemplari et contemplare aliis trader). During time they adapted well to modern standards, nowadays they publish their preaches weekly on the internet. “Veritas” is their slogan, looking for the truth in whatever they say or do.

This philosophy is a perfect illustration of what the human rules concept is about. Going back to the very core of things, study it and then talk to other people about your findings and solutions.
